In Autumn 2011, the first series of professional speeches was launched as a set of tools to promote polygamy rights for the National Polygamy Rights Movement for Consenting Adults.
In 2010 and 2011, National Polygamy Advocate, Mark Henkel, began presenting numerous public speeches about polygamy, boldly speaking before live, non-polygamous audiences. On September 15, 2011, and following each Thursday thereafter, a video of one new presentation was uploaded online. On November 15, 2011, after the first series of the first ten videos was uploaded, the www.NationalPolygamyAdvocate.com web-site was upgraded to highlight those videos and was officially announced. These new resources have given activists and supporters in the National Polygamy Rights Movement for Consenting Adults powerful tools for promoting their fight for freedom.
The first presentation, "The Polygamy Rights WIN-WIN Solution," lays down Henkel's well-known proposal of how to end the marriage debate, once and for all, in a way that all sides can achieve a political "win." As the only video presented in a television-editorial format, this speech introduces the over-arching point about which all the subsequent videos reference and support.
Next, but before addressing polygamy rights directly, it was also necessary to provide personal perspective about the man himself, Mark Henkel. Hence, the next two speeches both demonstrate his credibility and provide essential insights behind all the arguments that he makes in the other remaining speeches. "INTENSE! (My Name is Mark Henkel and I am Intense!)" details some of his childhood years, to reveal from where his very unique personality and unquestioned intelligence come. "The Anti-Socialist" entertainingly describes Mark Henkel's ideology for life.
Whereas the previous two videos explain about him personally, the next two explain the "why" and the "what" of Mark Henkel's standing up to become the National Polygamy Advocate. One of the most powerful presentations, "Peeling the Onion (Of Why I Do What I Do)," delves into the three big motivations for his work – obliterating false stereotypes others might expect. "One Plus One Does NOT Equal Eleven" uses a visual analogy to show what Henkel - as an evangelical Christian - has exclusively done for polygamy rights since 1994, all of which catapulted him to the national stage as the established National Polygamy Advocate.
The next two presentations address arguments made by anti-polygamists. "Bible NEVER Created One Man One Woman Doctrine" is a non-preaching yet Scripture-citing presentation that succinctly explains the "Grace/Law Hypocrisy," notes important polygamists in the Bible, discusses the "adultery" and "one flesh" Biblical terms, and clarifies the actual limitations for only kings, bishops, elders, and deacons. "One Man One Woman Arguments Lead to Polygamy" exposes how "legal" arguments used by opponents of same sex marriage not only lead to supporting polygamy but are actually answered even moreso by polygamy.
The subsequent two speeches present academic-style analyses of federal law and Supreme Court Decisions. "In the Territories..." reviews the actual language of both the 1800s federal anti-polygamy laws and the 1878 Reynolds Decision to prove how the politicians and justices of that era all knew that the U.S. Constitution's Tenth Amendment prohibited federal anti-polygamy laws as completely unconstitutional in the States. "The 3 Supreme Court Decisions For Polygamy" is a powerful PowerPoint presentation detailing the three modern Supreme Court Decisions that have again made anti-polygamy laws unconstitutional.
The tenth video in the series explains just how tyrannical anti-polygamy laws are in some states – even today. "YOUR Marriage & Free Speech Criminalized?" reveals how some states' anti-polygamy laws not only criminalize consenting adult polygamy but also criminalize polygamists' free speech.
Now the first series has concluded. The www.NationalPolygamyAdvocate.com web-site has been upgraded to highlight the videos. Activists and supporters of polygamy rights have thereby been empowered with these tools to promote the fight for polygamists' freedom. Simultaneously, these are also essential resources for media outlets requesting interviews, for meeting planners seeking to hire a proven, professional, national public speaker on polygamy, and for anyone else researching or just seeking to learn of polygamy rights.
And that's just the beginning. The second series of speeches begins in January, 2012. The polygamists' fight for freedom continues.
